Services enhanced for XPress customers

The Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and its transit partners have several new developments to enhance service for Xpress customers. Maps and additional information on these topics are available at www.XpressGa.com under Current News.

Beginning Tuesday, August 5th, customers may use Breeze cards and tickets on all Xpress routes.

Customers need a Breeze plastic card or paper ticket ONLY IF riding the MARTA bus or rail is part of their commute. The magnetic-striped Xpress fare passes will continue to be accepted. The Breeze card or ticket is only necessary for transferring to MARTA. GRTA is NOT discontinuing its Xpress pass program.

Until September, Xpress operators will continue to provide a paper transfer to customers who request them and need to transfer to MARTA. Each MARTA rail station has one gate where the paper transfer can be used. After that time, a Breeze card is required. There will be no free transfer if you pay the one-way or round trip cash fare.

At this time, customers may add cash as stored value to their plastic Breeze regional smart card to pay for an Xpress fare. Xpress fare products (20-Ride, 40-Ride and 31-Day Pass) are not yet available on the Breeze vending machine but will be at a later date. The cash fare for Xpress routes, not originating in Cobb or Gwinnett counties, will continue to be $3.

Stockbridge Park & Ride

GRTA has reached agreement with BrandsMart to use its lot near the Stockbridge Park & Ride Station for Xpress and vanpool parking.

Vanpools have already begun moving over to the BrandsMart lot located off Mt. Zion Boulevard. Beginning Monday, August 18, Xpress will begin picking up passengers for the 7:00, 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. departures at the BrandsMart lot. Passengers departing on the 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. coaches will continue to board at the Stockbridge Park & Ride Station off GA 138.

In the afternoon, the 3:32, 4:02 and 4:32 p.m. coaches departing Civic Center MARTA Station will continue to go to the Stockbridge Park & Ride Station. Coaches departing at 5:02 and 5:32 and 6:02 p.m. will go first to BrandsMart to drop off passengers, then go by the Stockbridge Park & Ride Station.

Repeat: the first three coaches in the morning - 5:30, 6:00 and 6:30 - will leave from the Stockbridge Station. The next three coaches in the morning - 7:00, 7:30 and 8:00 - will leave from the BrandsMart lot and NOT go by the Stockbridge Station.

The first three coaches in the afternoon - 3:32, 4:02 and 4:32 - will go to the Stockbridge Station. The next three coaches in the afternoon - 5:02, 5:32 and 6:02 - will FIRST go by the BrandsMart lot and SECOND go by the Stockbridge Station.

These changes are effective Aug. 18.
