Governor Announces New Work Ready Center for State Agencies

Partnership Enables State to Attract and Retain Best-in-Class Workforce

ATLANTA [May 6, 2009] – Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that the State Personnel Administration (SPA), in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Development (GOWD), has opened a new Work Ready Center in the Floyd Veterans Memorial state office building in Atlanta. The Work Ready Center is designed to help state agencies attract and retain the best workforce to meet their customers’ needs.

The new Work Ready Center will provide no-cost Work Ready assessments to current and potential state employees and certified Work Ready job profilers will be available to profile the required job tasks and skill levels needed for success to help agencies more reliably match the right person to the right job.

The state of Georgia is committed to hiring and retaining the best possible workforce talent,” said Governor Perdue. “This new Work Ready Center enables state agencies to transform the way they hire and train their employees, which will effectively generate the right talent for the right jobs.

The Georgia Forestry Commission, Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget and Georgia State Patrol are currently using Work Ready and seeing positive results in the quality of their new hires.

Work Ready is powered by the ACT WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate and includes a skills assessment, measuring applied mathematics, locating information and reading for information, certification and skills gap training for job seekers and a job profiling system for state agency employers.
